Head of the city and Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma held a reception for chief editors of papers, TV and radio broadcasting companies, information agencies and web portals. The meeting was dedicated to professional holiday of mass media workers – The Russian Press Day.
— All of you take care of a big and important work — you inform people on all events happening in our city, region and country, objectively evaluate them , give explanations, express authoritative point of view which helps solving many existing problems. You, chiefs of mass media, know better than anyone that now it is difficult time on the economic front. Too many emotions came to the fore against this background however it is very important that such expressions not to displace facts and actual state of things. I hope that despite any difficulties we will work fruitfully and constructively resolving most pressing issues of the city in the same way as before, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Municipal authorities invited chiefs of the city and regional mass media of Krasnodar as well as regional representatives of federal media to take part in this tradition reception. They were handed Certificates of honour, calendars and gift books of the city coincided with the 222nd anniversary of Krasnodar foundation.
In his speech Vladimir Evlanov touched some most interesting topics of the city life covered by journalists in the local mass media. Among them — solving problems of defrauded homebuyers and snow management. Along with that Head of the city emphasized priority areas of work of municipal authorities in 2016.
The reception was also participated by Deputy Head of Krasnodar Sergey Vasin, City Duma deputy, Chairman of the Committee on public relations, mass media, migration issues, interethnic and religious relations, Cossacks and servicemen affairs Vladimir Nedilko.
You are representatives of challenging and responsible profession. Under any circumstances journalists are to display the situation from the inside and be in hotspots. Thanks you Krasnodar citizens receive an objective estimation of events which happen within the city and outside. It is important to note that there is room for criticism. This is a guide for the authorities and strong incentive for us to go on, — Vera Galushko said.
The conversation was kept in informal manner. Chief editors of mass media shared their impressions on changes that take place in the city and problems about which readers, viewers and listening audience talk.
The Russian Press Day is celebrated on January 13. It was established by the Resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RF dated from December 28, 1991 No. 3043-1 and is connected with the historical date — the start of publishing the first Russian newspaper “Vedomosti” founded under the decree of Peter the Great. The newspaper’s first issue was on January 1, 1703 (January 13, new style calendar).
