The memorial opening ceremony took place in Chistyakovskaya Grove. There was a meeting devoted to the twentieth anniversary of the start of counter-terrorism operation in Chechen Republic.
— You have restored constitutional order in Russia, Chechen Republic and defended fragile peace in the North Caucasus. And today instead of your illnesses and possible difficulties, you remain in service and actually are an example for the younger generation, teach young people to be patriotic and love their Motherland, — Deputy Head of Krasnodar Sergey Vasin addressed the participants of the meeting.
Infantry combat vehicle which had participated in battles in Grozny in period December 1994 – January 1995 was installed on a pedestal of the memorial. In memory of military men participated in that events, on a side of the vehicle one inscribed “67 AK” that means 67th army corps.
The memorial opening ceremony in Chistyakovskaya Grove was participated by members of youth and patriotic organizations, representatives of Krasnodar branch of All-Russian public organization “Brothers in arms”, veterans of Chechen military campaigns. The commander of the combat vehicle, Hero of Russia, Colonel Rustem Klupov also laid flowers to the memorial.
After flags of the Russian Federation and Kuban were brought in and anthems played, former commander of a Group “North” General Lieutenant Konstantin Pulikovskiy opened the ceremonial meeting.
— Infantry combat vehicle symbolizes the power and pride of the Russian Army. This is the memorial to all Kuban people who defended Motherland during armed conflicts in Chechen Republic, — he said.
