Festive events dedicated to the anniversary of Krasnodar liberation from the German Nazi occupants started today with a flower-laying ceremony in Chistyakovskaya Grove. The ceremony was participated by Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov and Chairman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko.
— Today is one of the main holidays of our city — the day of liberation of Krasnodar. Citizens come to the memorials to lay flowers and pay tribute to heroic defenders, liberators and residents of occupied Krasnodar. Soldiers of Victory have made their great feat in the name of future generations. Old people are an example of firmness and magnificent courage. Such events are therefore of great importance to teach the young people patriotism and to share memory of heroes of the growing generation, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
Head of the city remarked that in 2016 it has been decided to praise veterans-liberators of Krasnodar in a special way. Presently 33 veterans of the Great Patriotic War who liberated the city live in Krasnodar. Upon a petition of veterans’ Council 6 frontline soldiers have been awarded the title “Honourable citizen of Krasnodar” and 27 veterans are to receive commemorative medals “For Merits”.
The ceremonial flower-laying at the memorial of fascism’s victims was also participated by First Deputy Chairman of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly Ivan Peronko, Director of Internal policy department of Krasnodar Region administration Victor Tushev, Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidor, Deputy Heads of Krasnodar, Chiefs of structural subdivisions of Krasnodar administration, Heads of urban districts of Krasnodar, deputies of Legislative Assembly and Krasnodar city Duma, representative of local branches of political parties, public youth and veterans organizations, Cossacks, students, schoolchildren and the city residents.
To the strains of funeral march the gathered people went to the memorial and laid flowers and wreaths to its pedestal. In the memory of all the victims died in occupation period the air rang with the gun salvoes and anthem of Russia was played.
In the end of the event on the square of memorial complex servicemen of Krasnodar garrison, cadets of military educational institutions and Cossacks of Yekaterinodar Cossacks’ district society marched in review.
Ceremonial event timed to coincide with day of Krasnodar liberation from the German Nazi invaders is traditionally held in Krasnodar as part of regional month of the mass-defensive and military-patriotic work which started on January 23.
Within the month meetings of veterans and young people, patriotic song festivals, sporting contests, trivia games, excursions to places of the fighting glory are held in Kuban capital.
