Vladimir Evlanov took part in ceremony of flowers and wreaths laying to the memorial of fascism’s victims in Krasnodar

Ceremonial event dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of liberation of Krasnodar from the German fascist invaders took place at the memorial to fascism’s victims. The ceremony of flowers and wreaths laying to the monument bottom was participated by Kuban Governor Alexander Tkachev and Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov.

— We remember years of the Great Patriotic War, terrible time of opposition to fascism. The memory of the liberators’ feat will be always alive in hearts of citizens of the country. Krasnodar residents pay tribute to all who battled the German fascist invaders and gave their lives for liberation of the city. Today we think of the war victims and are obliged to do our best to keep a peaceful sky above our heads forever, — Alexander Tkachev said.

— It is really festive and commemorative day for Krasnodar. Citizens come to the monuments and memorials to lay flowers and pay tribute to the defendants, liberators and residents of occupied Krasnodar who preformed a true feat in the name of future generations. We need such arrangements to transmit the memory of heroes from generation to generation, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

To the strains of funeral march gathered people proceeded to the memorial and laid flowers and wreaths. Volleys of military salutes sounded in the air in the memory of all died during the occupation and while liberating the city. Anthems of Russia and Kuban were played.

In conclusion, soldiers of Krasnodar garrison, cadets of military educational institutions, cadets of presidential college and Cossacks of Yekaterinodar District Cossack Society marched in review. The event was by participated by over 3500 people.

Presently 35 veterans, liberators of Krasnodar, live in the capital of Kuban.

Krasnodar was liberated from the German fascist invaders on 12 February 1943. Hitler occupation lasted for almost half-year. During this period of time thousands civilians died, many of them were killed in gas vans which were for the first time used in occupied Krasnodar.

After liberation of the capital of Kuban there was a trial of fascist invaders for the first time in the country’s history.
