Today Krasnodar citizens mark the day of city liberation from Nazi invaders. Thousands of people came to Chistyakovskaya grove to lay flowers and wreaths to the memorial and pay the tribute to the memory of died citizens in period of the Great Patriotic War.
— This day created its own chapter of history. Memory of this day will always dwell with Krasnodar citizens. Year by year people will come to the memorial to pay the tribute to the memory of all who gave their all counteracting aggression of Nazi invaders and expelling enemy from the city. This day unites all of us and let feeling deeply significance of happened at that time. Today we are proud that Krasnodar citizens have special patriotic attitude and particular attention to the veterans, — Vladimir Evlanov said.
To the strains of funeral march all gathered walked up to the memorial and laid flowers and wreaths to the monument pedestal. Military salvoes sounded in memory of the fallen during period of invasion and the city liberation. The Russian and Kuban anthem were played.
Upon completion military serviceman of Krasnodar garrison, cadets of military educational institutions and Cossacks of Yekaterinodar district Cossacks society marched in review at square.
Krasnodar was liberated from Nazi invaders on February 12, 1943. Hitler occupation lasted for a half-year. Thousands of civilians died in that period, many of them were killed in gas vans which were used by Nazi in Krasnodar for the first time ever.
After liberation Kuban capital hosted the country first ever legal trial of fascist invaders.
