On the eve of the day of liberation of Kuban capital from the German fascist invaders, Head of Krasnodar and Chairwoman of City Duma visited and congratulated the Great Patriotic War veteran, honorary citizen of Krasnodar Nikolay Timofeyevich Litvin on the coming holiday.
— It is a great honor for me to be your guest, glad to see you in good health. You have wonderful children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for whom, as well as for many citizens of Krasnodar, you are an example of courage and heroism, — Evgeny Pervyshov said.
The city Head and Chairwoman of City Duma handed the veteran gifts, flowers and a cake.
— Despite an advanced age — 93 years Nikolay Timofeyevich is cheerful, optimistic, participates in many city and district events, dances a waltz beautifully, — Vera Galushko said.
Talking over a cup of tea, Nikolay Litvin told that he writes his memories about the war. His book entitled "800 days on the Eastern Front" was published in the United States by Kansas University. In his turn Head of the city said that he will consider the possibility of veteran's reminiscences publication in Krasnodar.
Nikolay Timofeyevich volunteered for the front in 1942. He fought as a common soldier, gunner of mountain-pack mortar regiment of the 4th Guards Airborne Division, liberated Krasnodar from the German fascist invaders in February 1943. He participated in the battles at the Kursk Bulge, liberated Belarus, Ukraine, Poland. Nikolay Litvin ended the war in Germany. He was awarded the order of the Patriotic War II, Red Star, Medal "For victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945", commemorative medals.
In 2016, by the decision of City Duma Nikolay Litvin received the title of honorary citizen of the city of Krasnodar for military merits and big contribution to the development of Kuban capital.
