The main square of the capital of Kuban hosted ceremonial marching of parade squads and running of military vehicles and weapons devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event was participated by temporarily acting as Governor of Kuban Veniamin Kondratiev and Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov.
— Dear veterans, respectable compatriots! Today is the 9th of May, it is the main date for Russia, it is the day of national triumph and holiday for each family. No other country of the world has made such an awful sacrifice for the sake of peace. Krasnodar Region was among the first ones which faced the enemy’s attack, a great deal of hardships bechanced to Krasnodar where fascists martyred thousands citizens in gas vans. We remember all this and bow to the heroic feat of Soviet soldiers — our life itself is entirely your Victory. Respectable veterans, thank you so much for the possibility of being proud of your feat, hats off to you, — Veniamin Kondratiev addressed the gathered people.
384 veterans have been invited to view the parade from an honourable stand. Among them are liberators of Krasnodar, home front workers and infant prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. Totally more than 46 thousand Krasnodar citizens and guests viewed the parade.
Chairman of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly Vladimir Beketov, Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidor, deputies of Legislative Assembly and Krasnodar City Duma were also present.
Marching of parade squads and units of Krasnodar garrison and cadets of military educational institutions, cadets of Presidential college, Kuban Cossack Army, Cossacks cadet corps, units of the Federal Security Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia started at 11.00.
National flag of Russia, Victory Banner and flag of Krasnodar Region were brought onto the square under a strike of Courant.
Commander of the parade reviewed troops, greeted them and congratulated on this big day.
He read out an order of Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoygu. Then anthems of Russia and Kuban were played.
The parade was opened by the Great Patriotic War veterans entering Theatre square by vehicles of the Second World War. Then there was a marching of 38 parade squads and 1 horse group. The squads included 2145 people: servicemen of Krasnodar garrison military units, veterans of combat operations and local conflicts, cadets of a branch of Military scientific-research center, Cossacks of Kuban Cossack Army, pupils of Cossacks cadet corps and Presidential college, Honour Guard of KCA, Krasnodar MIA university.
The parade was completed with a running of military motorized column of Krasnodar garrison. The column consisted of 24 units of military vehicles and 6 units of weaponry: missile complexes “Tochka-U” and “Iskander-TZM”, shoulder-fired manpads “Igla”, armored reconnaissance vehicles “Tiger”, wheeled troop transporter “BTR-80”.
Military orchestra of Krasnodar garrison performed a concert for veterans and all people present. Parade squads of branches of Military telecommunication academy and Military scientific-research center together with the military orchestra rendered a song “Victory Day”.
Today ceremonial events in honour of Victory Day began with laying flowers and wreaths to the memorial complex “Eternal Light” situated at Memory of Heroes Square, and also to the monuments devoted to the Great Patriotic War participants situated at All Saints cemetery.
