Devoted to the 69th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War marching in review of parade squads, military and retro-equipment happened at Theatre Square. Kuban Governor Alexander Tkachev and Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov took part in the ceremony.
— Dear veterans, soldiers and Navy men, Cossacks and compatriots! This is the most sacred holiday for our Motherland. We thank unceasingly everyone who by dint of strenuous efforts had gained victory through pain and fascists’ acts of atrocity. The war has taken away almost 27 million lives of soviet people, every fifth Kuban resident haven’t returned home from battlefields. As befits, Kuban met the holiday of Victory with a rich harvest. That nation is happy that is able to adopt history lessons. This is our common Victory! While we are keeping memory and honouring feats of our fathers and grandfathers — will of our nation will never be broken and the course of history will not be turned back. Eternal glory to heroes! All honour to liberator-nation! — Alexander Tkachev addressed to all people gathered at square.
384 war veterans were invited to honourable tribune to view the ceremony. They are liberators of Krasnodar, workers of the home front, infant prisoners of Nazi death camps. Totally 37 thousand Krasnodar and the city guests attended parade.
Chairman of regional Legislative Assembly Vladimir Beketov, archimandrite Tikhon (Plotnikov), chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko, deputies of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly and Krasnodar City Duma were also present at parade.
Marching of parade squads and units of Krasnodar garrison, cadets of military educational institutions, cadets of Presidential Academy, Kuban Cossacks Army and subdivisions of Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federal Security Service and Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia started at 11:00.
Ceremonial parade was inspected by chief of branch of Military Academic Centre (Krasnodar) — chief of Krasnodar territorial garrison Colonel Victor Lyakhov. The ceremony was run by deputy chief of branch of Military Academic Centre (Krasnodar) — deputy chief of Krasnodar territorial garrison Colonel Andrey Galkin.
With carillon sounding state flag of the Russian Federation, Victory banner and flag of Krasnodar Region were brought into the square.
Military parade was opened by veterans of the Great Patriotic War who went at square on retro vehicles of those times. Then 31 parade squads and 1 horse group marched in review. Parade orders numbered 1698 people: military men from Krasnodar garrison units, veterans of combat operations and local conflicts, cadets of branch of Military Academic Centre, Cossacks of Kuban Cossack Army, students of Cossack cadet corps and cadets of Presidential Academy, Honour Guard of KCA, Krasnodar University of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Ceremonial marching was accomplished with a motor column of Krasnodar territorial garrison. The column comprised 19 units of military equipment: guided-missile systems “Tochka-U” and “Iskander-TZM”, armored reconnaissance support vehicles “Tiger”, wheeled troop transporter-80.
For veterans and all gathered people at square cadets of military academies and Krasnodar garrison military orchestra played a song “Victory Day”.
Several arrangements devoted to Victory Holiday are planned to be conducted in Krasnodar on May 9. Festivities were started with a ceremony of flowers and wreath-laying to the memorial complex “Eternal light” at square of Heroes’ Memory and other monuments devoted to heroes and participants of the Great Patriotic War.
