A new structure in real-time mode controls traffic of public transport of Krasnodar — all buses, trams and trolleybuses.
— We continue methodical work on improvement of transport situation within the city paying a special attention to public transport which carries most of citizens. The system allows us to keep strict watch for the work of trams, trolleybuses and buses, make adjustments to their work, find problems and decide with proper solutions, — Vladimir Evlanov remarked when getting to know the work of transport and navigation center (TNC).
TNC opening was also participated by chairman of Regional Legislative Assembly Committee on fuel and energy complex, transport and communication Vladimir Chepel, Deputy Heads of Krasnodar Victor Bondar and Alexander Mikheev, chief of the department of transport and environment protection Evgeny Kalioropulo, chief of the department of road and bridge maintenance Mikhail Zharkov, principals of transport enterprises, representatives of public organizations.
Head of Krasnodar was showed the functioning of this unique traffic control service with more than 40 people in the office staff. In real-time mode daily 10 dispatchers are monitoring the work of low, medium and high capacity buses as well as trams and trolleybuses. The system gives the opportunity of monitoring the number of transport units on line, time of their work starting or possible failure in their work.
From this day forth dispatchers control 151 urban and suburban routes with 1674 transport carriers and 24 tow trucks working at these routes. All these transport units are equipped with GLONASS system which delivers necessary data to transport and navigation center. Thus, TNC specialists exactly know the number of transport units on each certain route, at what speed they move and when they reach a halting point.
The system capabilities were demonstrated to the audience on a big screen at the example of movement at bus route № 50 that joins 1 division of “Kuban” instructional farm and Komsomolskiy microdistrict and work of tram route № 8. If transport unit doesn’t keep to the timetable, dispatcher instantly contacts the carrier and find out the cause of the delay and then this information goes into the department of transport for measures taking. This may be just a warning, and in case of regular breach there will be termination of the contract with carrier.
Information about movement of public transport will be also delivered to electronic displays which are to be installed almost in all tram and bus halting points till the end of the year.
— The work on further elaboration and improvement of this open transport and navigation system will be permanently carried out. In the near future this system and worked out smart phone applications will become available for all citizens. Parallely electronic displays at halting points will also work on the basis of this system data, — Evgeny Kalioropulo underlined.
In the future TNC will involve the work of communal services equipment and school buses. The information about availability of vacant car stalls at paid municipal parkings will be also provided through the system.
— It is of great importance for us to take charge of the work of low-capacity buses because most complaints regard to this very type of public transport, — Vladimir Evlanov set task.
Additionally the system of video monitoring within salon of municipal public transport was demonstrated in the course of transport and navigation center presentation. Watching cameras installed in 50 trams, trolleybuses and buses allow dispatcher seeing after activity in salon, checking correct or incorrect behavior of conductors and drivers, how they converse with passengers. Using of watching cameras will also allow improving the state of public order in transport.
In December of last year prospects for the development of public transport were discussed at the conference “Open Krasnodar: public transport”. In his report Vladimir Evlanov set tasks regarding modernization of trams and trolleybuses fleet, creation of transport and navigation center, arrangement of public transport lanes and other problems.
In the course of annual report at extended session of Krasnodar City Duma with the participation of Kuban Governor Alexander Tkachev, Vladimir Evlanov mentioned the development of public transport and solving of related issues as one of the major priorities of municipal authorities in years to come.
