Solemn event dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the North Caucasus Zonal Research Institute for Horticulture and Vine-growing was held in the capital of Kuban today. Acting Head of Krasnodar Alexander Mikheev came to congratulate the staff of the institute.
— On behalf of all citizens of Krasnodar I’m happy to congratulate one of the most famous scientific teams of our city. The North Caucasus Zonal Research Institute for Horticulture and Vine-growing is a significant for our city center of agrarian science, “golden fund” not only for Krasnodar and Kuban, but the whole country. I would like to wish glorious traditions of your collective to be successfully continued by young specialists, — Alexander Mikheev said.
Krasnodar City Duma Chairwoman Vera Galushko, Acting Minister of Agriculture and Processing Industry of Krasnodar Region Sergey Orlenko, First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Policy Konstantin Fedorenko, Head of Prikubanskiy urban district of Krasnodar Andrey Doroshev, Chief of Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations Vugar Bagirov, presidium member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ivan Kulikov and representatives of higher educational institutions of the city arrived to congratulate the institute’s chiefs and scientific specialists.
Before the start of solemn event which took place in convention hall, Director of the institute Eugeny Yegorov demonstrated honourable guests an exhibition “Varieties of horticultural crops of the selection of Institute for Horticulture and Vine-growing”.
Then during the festive meeting he congratulated the institute’s collective on this remarkable date, narrated about progress and achievements of the institute on its 85th anniversary.
— The date is not jubilee but a milestone. Today our institute does have something worth showing and priding of. We are the biggest regional scientific methodological and selective technical center for horticulture and vine-growing. Our fundamental and efficient applied researches are focused on the development of regional agroindustrial branch, — Eugeny Yegorov stated.
He said that current institute’s structure includes — Anapa zonal experimental station of vine-growing and vine-production, Stavropol experimental station of horticulture, regional network of base stations. Experimental production base is represented by such enterprises as experimental production farm “Tsentralnoe”, experimental production farm of K. A. Timityazev, winery “Primorskiy”, experimental production farm “Anapa” which totally use over 12 thousand hectares of agricultural lands.
During the day the institute also hosted solemn reception of the institute’s veterans and a session of scientific council.
Federal state budgetary scientific institution “The North Caucasus Zonal Research Institute for Horticulture and Vine-growing” is a big scientific methodological and selective technical center for horticulture and vine-growing in Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts. It was established as the North Caucasus zonal experimental station in 1931 on the base of instructional farm “Sad-Gigant”. Nowadays the institute’s scientific and research potential — 115 researchers: 15 Doctors of Sciences, 62 Candidates of Sciences and 8 Professors. The institute has over ten thousand scientific works, over 80 patents and copyright certificates. In 2001 official letter of thanks of the President of the Russian Federation was given to the institute for significant contribution to the development of agricultural production and high scientific production achievements.
