Its launch coincides with the 25th anniversary of the sister city relations established between the capital of Kuban and the German city.
— Sister city relations with Karlsruhe are among the most successful. Over the years, there have been regular joint exhibitions, economic projects, musical festivals and sports competitions. Student exchanges and doctors' internships are particularly fruitful. There are strong friendships between young musicians, artists and economists of the two cities. In addition, at the end of June 2017, the XIV Conference of Russian and German partner cities will be held in Krasnodar. This is a major event that will make a significant contribution to the strengthening of relations between our cities and countries, — noted Deputy Chief of administrative Department, Chief of the Department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy.
The Director of municipal unitary enterprise "Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Directorate" Ivan Polukhin said that the commemorative symbol was displayed on a tram car of the Tatra T3 model. In the Western depot transport park there are totally 135 such tram cars made in the Czech Republic between 1980 and 1986. Many of them have been thoroughly overhauled.
On its first flight, a stylized tram started from the Western depot to Dekabristov Street today. In the following it is planned to use the tram in various urban routes that the Western Depot serves: No. 2, 3, 6, 7, 11, 15 and 21.
The tram is decorated with the 25th anniversary logo of Krasnodar and Karlsruhe partnerships, images of Saint Catherine's sculpture, the Alexander Arch, and of the castle of Karlsruhe.
A similar tram car with commemorative symbols came to the streets of Karlsruhe in April 2017. It depicts the attractions of three sister cities with which the German city has established a strong, multi-year partnership: Halle (Germany), Krasnodar (Russia) and Timisoara (Romania).
