Vladimir Evlanov: The Great Victory is the great feat of our fathers and grandfathers

A solemn meeting devoted to the 69th anniversary of soviet people’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Krasnodar Philharmonics.

— Traditionally every year just before May 9 we meet with you, our honorable veterans, in order to express gratitude for your firmness and your Victory. It is a direct merit of the Great Patriotic War soldiers that Russia has achieved high economic potential by now. About 8 thousand veterans live in Krasnodar today. We are obliged to do our best to provide good living standards for the generation of Victory. I wish you strong health, welfare and strength of spirit! — Vladimir Evlanov said.

During ceremonial meeting veterans of the Great Patriotic War were also congratulated by chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko, chief of Krasnodar territorial garrison Colonel Victor Lyakhov and arch-priest of Alexander Nevsky Military Cathedral Anatoly Petrov.

— I congratulate dear veterans on the greatest and most valued holiday — the Victory Day! Your generation is a symbol of national proud and military glory! — Vera Galushko said.

Additionally the event was participated by deputies of Krasnodar City Duma, Honorable citizens of Kuban capital, chiefs of the departments of Krasnodar administration, representatives of youth and veteran public organizations.

Vladimir Evlanov remarked that there will be 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in the next year. To keep memory of this Victory is the highest value and foundation for the development of Russian society and upbringing of youth. A number of years in succession Krasnodar takes the first place according to the results of month of military-patriotic and mass-defensive work. Krasnodar veterans take the most active part in this work.

Due to execution of the Russian Federation Presidential Decree over 800 Krasnodar veterans had got state subsidies for improvement of their living conditions.

According to Krasnodar administration program “The older generation” finances are provided for improvement of houses and flats of veterans of the great Patriotic War. More than 700 veterans’ flats have been repaired in the period from 2011 to 2013. A sum allocated for repairing works will be increased from 100 to 150 thousand roubles per every flat according to the decision of municipal authorities.

Creative collectives of Ponomarenko Krasnodar Philharmonics presented their musical performances upon completion of the official part.

During the war 68 thousand people from Krasnodar were off at the front, 18 thousand of them laid down their lives for country on battlefields.

A range of celebrations events are to be conducted in Krasnodar on the Victory Day. Traditionally there will be laying of flowers and wreaths to the memorial complex at square of Heroes’ Memory and other monuments devoted to heroes and victims of war in the morning of May 9. Military parade of Krasnodar garrison will take place at Theatre Square.

Simultaneously two patriotic youth demonstrations — “Parade of winners” and “Immortal regiment” are to be organized in Kuban capital in honor of 69th anniversary of the Great Victory on May 9.
