Today ceremonial flag hoisting on the submarine boat “Krasnodar” took place in St. Petersburg. Krasnodar City acts as a patron to namesake submarine. The delegation was led by Head of Western urban district of Krasnodar Dmitry Logvinenko.
— On behalf of Head of Krasnodar and all the people living in Krasnodar I congratulate executive officers, foremen, midshipmen and the entire crew of diesel submarine “Krasnodar” on flag hoisting. This ceremony supersedes the beginning of military service of the boat’s crew. Diesel submarine “Krasnodar” is one more symbol of Russia’s military power. We are proud of the fact that the submarine bears the name of our favourite city, — Dmitry Logvinenko said.
The flag hoisting ceremony on board of the submarine was participated by Deputy of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Rear Admiral Victor Kochemazov, CEO of OJSC “Admiralty Shipyards” Alexander Buzakov, CEO of joint-stock company “Central Construction Bureau of Marine Facilities “Rubin” Igor Vilnit, Chief of the department of information and communication technologies of Krasnodar administration Georgy Antoniadi, representatives of St. Petersburg administration, veterans and citizens of “capital of the North”.
— From the times of Peter the First our country has been and remains a major maritime power. Courage of naval mariners who heroically defended Sevastopol, Novorossiysk, took part in the defense of the Subarctic and in battles in the Baltics will be remembered forever. Every boat has its own destiny, so I’m sure that the destiny of this diesel submarine named in honor of our city will become fortunate and mariners will successfully accomplish all missions of guarding sea borders of the country, — Georgy Antoniadi said.
In the course of ceremonial event the Order of the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief about flag hoisting on board of this diesel submarine and about its integration into the Russian Federation Navy. The boat captain got St. Andrew's colors from the hands of Rear Admiral Victor Kochemazov.
Presently the submarine screw includes 56 people, 2 of them are residents of Krasnodar Region. The autumn conscription in Armed Forces of the Russian Federation includes focused effort on recruiting persons from Krasnodar to do military service on this submarine.
Submarine “Krasnodar” is the fourth diesel-electric submarine under the project which is implemented by OJSC “Admiralty Shipyards” for Black Sea Fleet of Russia.
The subsurface running maximum speed is 20 knots, the supermarine speed is 17 knots. Operational depth is 240 meters, maximum depth — 300 meters. The vessel is able to be in independent cruise up to 45 days. Torpedo-rocket weapons can target objects at extra-long distances and advanced navigation complex allows mariners to detect enemies for long distances without being observed. That’s why experts call such modernized submarines “black holes”.
At the base of submarine a board with an engraved image of the submarine and inscription “Big diesel-electric, torpedo-rocket submarine “Krasnodar” is fitted.
