Vladimir Evlanov had a look at the largest in SFD street-art paining in center of Krasnodar

Street-art graphic painting appeared on a wall of one of buildings at Gorky Street as part of city project “KrasnodART”. Street painting was made by well-known in the city writer Georgy Kurinov together with his team.

— The painting is genuinely impressive. It has noticeably changed old, time-worn wall which was here before. It is wonderful that such a project as “KrasnodART” exists in our city and resonates with our youth. I guess that the project should be continued and attract new supporters. It is necessary to unite all people in the city who are keen on graffiti and street-art under the guise of “KrasnodART”, — Vladimir Evlanov said when looking at the work.

The largest street-art painting in Southern Federal District with size 520 square meters (52x10m) has decorated the wall of commercial center parking at intersection of Gorky and Krasnaya Streets in Krasnodar. Georgy Kurinov started this work on Sunday, July 26. Young people worked every day from 09.00 to 20.30. Totally the work took seven days. Expandable materials were provided by Youth Department of Krasnodar City administration.

As young painter explained this street painting is called “Starting to dive” and is inspired by images from foreign and home fantastic fiction. A lad reading a book under umbrella surrounded by fantastic characters is in center of composition.

— Separate fragments were composed from sketches that eventually resulted in such a work, — Georgy Kurinov said.

The city project “KrasnodART” has been launched in 2013. Georgy Kurinov became its encourager and art director. In last year, as active representative of Krasnodar youth community he joined a youth delegation of Kuban capital which visited Krasnodar sister-city Karlsruhe (Germany) for the purpose of experience exchange.

Vladimir Evlanov asked him how useful this journey was.

— We have areas to develop in. The Germany street-art culture has been developed for 25 years; there is special stance on it. On the contrary the art just starts gaining steam in Krasnodar. Considerable amount of time is needed to make this art be a part of city life, — young person said.

Also other possible places for new street paintings were discussed. In this year writers headed by Georgy Kurinov are going to paint some other walls and take part in the process of Youth Center building facade decoration. Additionally young painter offered to make graffiti on the wall at intersection of Luzana and Dzerzhinskogo Streets where illegal advertising banner was removed on the previous day. Vladimir Evlanov supported the idea.

The project “KrasnodART” is carried out with assistance of Youth Department of Krasnodar City administration since last year. The project makes provision of finding of free surfaces at buildings around the city for street writers to create their graffiti and street-art paintings.

The project aim is to decorate unpleasant facades and walls of buildings, other surfaces in the city and give opportunity street writers to make a claim about themselves, implement their ideas and work together at street paintings. This is striking example of that how street painters may not mar up facades of buildings but deliver benefits for the city.

“KrasnodART” project was started in April 18, 2013 after the meeting of Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov and Georgy Kurinov who became art director of this project. At that very time they came to conclusion of creation of the first painting at Turgenevskiy Bridge bearings, where images of giraffe and a fabulous tree appeared.

Totally 6 painters worked at painting of 8 big and small walls within the framework of “KrasnodART” project in last year. Among prominent works — “A young lady with sunflowers” on a wall of many-storeyed house at intersection of Ofitserskaya and Kommunarov Streets and “Fabulous forest” made in Komsomolskiy microdistrict.

Georgy Kurinov — is graduate of Kuban State University architecture and design faculty, freelancer. He works in different styles: from classic scenery to graffiti and street-art and also deal with graphics design, creation of illustrations, advertisement elements and decoration. Young painter has victories at various art exhibitions, painting competitions and graffiti festivals.
