Evgeny Pervyshov: The project of surface metro needs a detailed economic assessment

During today's briefing organized for media representatives, journalists asked Evgeny Pervyshov about the progress in creating the Krasnodar surface metro and the prospects for its development.

In a first approximation, the idea is not bad. My deputy, together with the initiators of this project, is undertaking a preliminary preparation to select possible locations for the surface metro platforms. But before the project takes a shape, it is important for us to see an assessment of economic effect that hasn't been seen so far, — Evgeny Pervyshov said.

Head of Krasnodar noted that everything would depend on when the necessary financial calculations and the economic feasibility of the project would be made. This will show the extent to which this project can be implemented and in what time frames.

— Technically, of course, it is all feasible. On the one hand it is possible to be implemented, on the other hand we should think of the economy without which I wouldn't say anything officially on this project, — Evgeny Pervyshov told.

With regard to the transport situation in the city as a whole, Evgeny Pervyshov also added that in order to untie some of the transport hubs, the city needs new crossings, crosswalks and "punctures" under railway lines which lays within the city territory.

— It is obvious that extremely costly projects, such as the moving branch railway line out of the city's center, are unrealistic in the present conditions. Today we need feasible projects which can be confirmed and implemented in the short term, and which will improve the transport situation in the city, for example, by making additional crossings through the railway lines. On this matter, I'm going to meet with bosses of OJSC “Russian Railways”, — Evgeny Pervyshov stated.
