The ceremony took place at Theatre square of Kuban capital where Krasnodar stage of Olympic torch relay finished. The route length made nearly 48 kilometers within the city, 345 torchbearers participated in the relay.
Torch-light procession came to Theatre square through Krasnaya Street. Starting from Catherine the Great garden square at the main city’s street the Olympic torch was accompanied by horse Cossacks cavalry. The torch entered the square with Olympic champion Irina Karavaeva who became the final torchbearer of Krasnodar stage of the relay. She brought the torch through the square and delivered it to the stage where she was met by Kuban Governor Alexander Tkachev.
In the middle of stage they inflamed symbolic Olympic cauldron as the symbol of the main global spots festival which is to be opened in a few days.
— You have gathered here and this is tremendous! The longest stage of Olympic torch relay within the territory of Krasnodar Region has finished and the main global sports festival will start in a few days. We have been waiting for the event for 10 years and today we are happy with it, — Alexander Tkachev remarked.
Then keepers of Olympic torch shifted the fire to a special lamp. By a train it will be delivered from Krasnodar to Sochi where torch-light procession to be continued. The relay finishes within the opening ceremony of Olympic Games in Sochi on February 7, 2014.
Krasnodar festival dedicated to Olympic torch relay was proceeded with a concert of creative collectives and guest pop stars. Picturesque firework with Olympic anthem crowned the evening.
