Today in municipal unitary enterprise “KTTD” a project of three-section trams semi knocked down assembly was presented to Head of Krasnodar. The project is planned to be implemented in Krasnodar in partnership with “Transportation systems” Company from the city of Tver.
— Krasnodar has always been a “tram city” and in the long view we count on this particular mode of public transport. We have a branched tramway network, reserved tram lines which are of great importance but there are still some problems, one of them — worn rolling-stock. I hope that own production of modern three-section trams which is to be launched in MUE “KTTD” this year will help make a breakthrough in this area, — Vladimir Evlanov remarked.
Krasnodar Head together with the Deputy Director of “Transportation systems” Sergey Afanasiev and “KTTD” Director Aleksey Knyazev inspected workshop rolling-stock repair premises where overhaul reconditioning of tram cars and trolleybuses takes place.
— It is exactly Krasnodar we chose to implement the project because we consider this city the fastest growing one in terms of public transport development. Krasnodar municipal authorities do much to make trams, trolleybuses and buses most comfortable, modern and popular transport among citizens, — Sergey Afanasiev said.
Also he underlined that Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Directorate has one-of-a-kind production facility and the necessary human resources that are not available in other cities of Russia. It is possible to organize the production on the basis of existing rolling-stock repair premises.
Aleksey Knyazev said that today more than a half of all trams (148 units or over 55 per cent) working at the city lines have completed their life cycles and require either to be overhauled or replaced. The past year in “KTTD” workshop premises 6 tram cars TATRA and 9 trolleybuses underwent overhauled reconditioning and modernization, only this was clearly insufficient.
It is required nearly 16 million roubles to reequip existing premises to launch new production line — the funds will be spent from our own resources. We are going to create the basis for semi knocked down assembly already this year, — Aleksey Knyazev said.
It is supposed that the main model for the production and further exploitation in Krasnodar will become three-section tram “Vityaz 71-931” which is now being manufactured in Tver. In the second quarter of this year “KTTD” plans to buy first tram of this model to test and trial it in the capital of Kuban.
Low-floor tram Vityaz 71-931 is fitted with air-conditioning system, admits up to 320 passengers, has the ability to move autonomously, low power consumption, operational lifetime — 30 years.
Aleksey Knyazev explained that the launch of semi knocked down assembly in Krasnodar will allow the city to renew the rolling-stock effectively during 3-4 years, create up to 100 new jobs and increase the enterprise tax liabilities to the budget. It is planned that at the end of this year Krasnodar receives the first tram car from Tver to conduct pioneer assembly works. In the longer term, Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Directorate and Transportation Systems of Tver plan joint production of such trams for other cities of the region and Russia.
