Today more than 52 thousand people participated in the demonstration that went along Krasnaya Street. This year traditional May Day demonstration is devoted to one of the most significant dates in Russia’s history — the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. The parade was led by temporarily acting as Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev and Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov.
— Each year Krasnodar meets the May Day with a special mood. 2015 is no exception. Spring and Labor Day is a folk festival. Dozens thousands Krasnodar citizens went to take part in the demonstration to rejoice at their collectives’ success, success of the city and country in whole. On May 1 I would like to wish you excellent mood, strong health, happiness and welfare, success and new achievements. I heartily congratulate all residents and guests of the city on the Day of Spring and Labor, on the 1st May Day! — Vladimir Evlanov said.
The May Day demonstration was organized on the initiative of Krasnodar regional branch of All-Russian political party “United Russia”, Krasnodar regional branch of Russia-wide social movement “People’s front “For Russia”, Krasnodar regional national-patriotic non-governmental organization “For Faith, Kuban and Fatherland!” and Krasnodar association of trade union organizations.
Festive May Day demonstration started at 10.00 and went along Krasnaya Street in a section from Lenina to Postovaya Streets. Ahead of the column of demonstrants there were flags of the Russian Federation, Krasnodar Region, political party “United Russia” and Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia waving.
The column was headed by temporarily acting as Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev, Chairman of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly Vladimir Beketov, Krasnodar Head Vladimir Evlanov and Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Soviet Union Heroes, Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory, liquidators of emergency on Chernobyl Crash, participants of combat operations and local conflicts went side by side with the chief executives of the city.
Vice-Governors of Kuban and Deputy Heads of Krasnodar, deputies of Kuban Legislative Assembly and the City Duma also marched at the forefront of the demonstration.
Representatives of Krasnodar Region local division of All-Russian political party “United Russia” went next to the main column.
The May Day demonstration took place in Krasnaya Street and lasted nearly three hours. Its participants were employees of the city and regional administrations, urban district administrations, labor collectives of Krasnodar, pupils and students, trainees of youth sports schools, representatives of Kuban trade unions, non-governmental organizations, Cossacks, Center of national cultures, local divisions of the Russian political parties.
Such slogans as: “1941-1945 will never be forgotten!”, “Glory to the defenders of the Fatherland!”, “Victory Day in our hearts!”, “We remember!”, “We are proud!”, “Every fifth resident of Kuban has entered upon combat against fascism!”, “My grandfather has reached Berlin!”, “For quality Kuban products!”, “I’m proud of my great country!”, “Close-knit family is a basis for the development of Kuban” and others were heard of the columns.
Throughout the day, festive celebrations were continued in parks and garden squares, institutions of culture of Krasnodar.
