Classic one-day bicycle race “Krasnodar-Anapa” starts on April 1, and the first stage of marathon bicycle race “Tour of Kuban” starts on April 2.
— Both races are part of European tournament calendar and are participated by the best national and regional teams of the Old World. Krasnodar hosts such prestigious tournaments not for the first time. The start and finish are attended by a great number of viewers, — Chief of the department of physical training and sports Andrey Danilov said.
The champion titles will be contested by 17 teams from Russia, Latvia, Serbia, Greece, Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Professional Russian brigades “Katyusha” and “Rusvelo” as well as other teams of regional level will defend sports honour of Russia.
Leading athletes of Krasnodar Region team are Timur Abkhadeev, Andrey Potapov, Aleksey Zemenov, Vasily Suchkov, Roman Kutuzov and Maxim Sukhomesov. Kuban athlete Roman Kustadinchev goes for professional team “Rusvelo”, and Danil Nemykin for continental “Itera-Katyusha”.
The total length of bicycle race “Krasnodar-Anapa” and “Tour of Kuban” — 742 kilometers. 186 kilometers of the first race will pass through Abinsk and Krymsk, Varenikovskaya village and finish in Anapa.
Marathon race “Tour of Kuban” includes 4 stages. They will go through Anapa – Novorossiysk – Gelendzhik – Nebug settlement of Tuapse district – Tuapse and finish in Krasnodar on April 5 at about 2:30 p.m. in intersection of Krasnaya and Postovaya Streets by the Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky.
Overall prize fund of bicycle races “Krasnodar-Anapa” and “Tour of Kuban” amounts to more than 25 thousand euros.
The last Sunday Krasnodar hosted the first tour of national tournament in criterium bicycle race among young athletes aged 15-16 in memory of famous Krasnodar trainer, scientist and public character Alexander Karpenko and regional competitions among youngsters aged 12-13.
