Vladimir Evlanov met with international grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik in Krasnodar

The main topic of the meeting was an agreement for Chess Training Center opening in Kuban capital. Prior to this, World champion met with Krasnodar young chess players in municipal concert hall.

— I’m very pleased to meet outstanding chess player, World champion and our countryman Vladimir Kramnik. For our city chess is not only sport, but national pride. We pay an increased attention to the development of chess sport. There is specialized chess school in Krasnodar and various chess tournaments are played here. I’m sure that the opening of Krasnodar branch of Vladimir Kramnik Chess Training Center will give new impetus for the development of this kind of sport in regional center, increase the number of children and young people playing this game. On our part we will provide full support to creation of the Center. I hope that one day a representative of Krasnodar chess school will try on world chess crown, — Vladimir Evlanov said.

Krasnodar Head and Vladimir Kramnik held the working meeting in Krasnodar administration whereat they discussed details of creation of Chess Training Center in Kuban capital. The meeting was also participated by Plenipotentiary of the Russian Chess Federation in Krasnodar Region Vladimir Smetana, Soviet and Russian chess player, chess grandmaster, European champion Pavel Tregubov, Deputy Head of Krasnodar Victor Bondar and Chief of the department of physical training and sports Andrey Danilov.

— Krasnodar Region is my Motherland. I’m sure that juvenile chess players of the city have the potential and talent to win and achieve great results. Chess movement is rapidly developing in the capital of Kuban thanks to support of municipal authorities, conscientious work of Krasnodar coaches and local schools. Chess Training Center will be opened in Krasnodar in September 2015. Selection of coaching staff, facilities and organization work have been already started. I’m sure that the Center will help to educate elite grandmasters in Krasnodar, — Vladimir Kramnik remarked.

According to World champion, the Center will represent the best example composed of Soviet and Russian chess schools, modern world technologies of careful selection and preparation of talents. Vladimir Kramnik will personally select qualified coaches, share the experience and give masterclasses.

— Consistent work on promotion of chess among children and youth is carried out in Krasnodar for recent years. The Kramnik’s chess school in the capital of Kuban will become the center for education of future champions. Pupils of that school will have a unique opportunity to hone their skills, — future director of the Center Pavel Tregubov said.

Then press-conference of Vladimir Evlanov and Vladimir Kramnik took place in Krasnodar administration whereat they shared plans for the development of chess within Kuban capital.

On the eve of the talk with journalists Vladimir Kramnik met up with pupils of Krasnodar children and youth chess sports school №7. Pupils asked grandmaster their questions and participated in autograph signing and photo sessions. Vladimir Kramnik handed out a special prize to 8-year-old Ilya Makoveev, 2014 World, European and Russian chess champion from Kuban.

Vladimir Kramnik is Russian Classical World Chess Champion (according to the Professional Chess Association) in 2000-2006, FIDE World champion (2006-2007), World Cup winner (2013). As part of the Russian team he is three times winner of World Chess Olympics (1992, 1994, 1996), winner of Team European Championship (1992) and World Championship (2013). Vladimir Kramnik is Merited Master of Sports of Russia, winner of Chess Oscar in 2000 and 2006. He was born on 25 June 1975 in Tuapse.

International investment Forum “Sochi-2014” hosted the signing of agreement between Krasnodar Region administration, World Chess Federation (FIDE), Russian Chess Federation (RCF) and Vladimir Kramnik to cooperate for the development of chess sport in Krasnodar Region. The agreement presumes the creation of regional organization “Chess Training Center of Vladimir Kramnik” with branches in six cities of Krasnodar Region, including Krasnodar itself.

4452 sportsmen are professionally occupied with chess in the capital of Kuban. Annually over 20 chess tournaments are held in Krasnodar. The Mayor Chess Cup and chess tournament dedicated to the memory of the City Duma Chairman Nikolay Kotlyarov will take place in Krasnodar until the end of this year. It is supposed that these tournaments may be participated by nearly 10 thousand Krasnodar citizens.
