The meeting of the regional organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the Football World Cup 2018 was held through videoconference in the capital of Kuban. Participants discussed the state of preparedness of sports, transport and hotel infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup in the cities where the participating national teams would accommodate and train: Sochi, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik and Anapa.
"For the organizing committee, the construction workers, all those involved in preparing for the World Cup, it is time to start continuous operation throughout the day. Not much time left before the tournament starts. All sports facilities of the World Cup must be fully ready by March 1, 2018. There should be no delay in the preparation timetable," said Deputy Governor of Kuban Nikolay Doluda.
He also noted that the FIFA World Cup draw would be in Moscow on December 1, 2017, and that national teams playing in Sochi would be identified. After December 1, representatives of these teams will have the right to come to Kuban and become acquainted with the accommodation facilities and the training base. In May 2018, the participating teams can start training here.
The meeting was attended by Heads of regional Ministries and departments, their deputies, law enforcement officials, members of the Federal Organizing Committee 2018, owners of construction companies, Heads of municipalities and their deputies.
At the meeting they discussed in detail the progress of reconstruction and the construction of training bases and sites in Sochi, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik and Anapa. In particular, Timothy Kuzin, the chief of a contracting organization that is occupied with the preparation of the Kuban Stadium in Krasnodar for the World Cup, has reported that the sports facility will be fully ready for the training of athletes by December 18 this year.
At the meeting it was announced that the itineraries of the World Cup guests and participants from the stations to their places of residence, training and competitions had been prepared and approved. A list of medical organizations that have been tested and licensed to work with athletes and viewers has also been approved. Additional medical devices, vehicles and equipment, medical products and medicines have been purchased.
The hotel room stock of the participating cities is fully prepared to accommodate tourists. In particular, hotel complex of Krasnodar is ready to host the guests of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
All 258 hotels and other accommodation facilities with more than 12 000 places at football fans disposal.
The municipalities of the participating cities also reported on the preparedness to accept guests of the World Cup.
"A comprehensive plan for the preparation and holding of the World Cup at the territory of Krasnodar Region is gradually being implemented. A survey of the main and reserve routes from the airport to the location of the sports teams at the Hilton Hotel has been carried out. In conjunction with the regional Ministry of Sport we've set up a training programme for the selected volunteers. 120 people will be trained to participate in the World Cup," said Deputy Mayor of the city Sergey Luzinov.
He also added that for tourist navigation convenience 12 pointers to 64 tourist spots in pedestrian areas of the city and 44 road navigation signs on transport nodes and roads had been updated in the capital of Kuban. In addition, the English-language guide-map to the city of Krasnodar has been developed. The guide will help you learn the location of the main traveler attractions, accommodation facilities, shopping and entertainment malls, banks and ATMs.
It is to be reminded that six games of World Cup 2018 will be held in Sochi. In this city as well as in Krasnodar, Gelendzhik and Anapa, there will be two football training bases in each. These cities also will accommodate athletes, guests and fans of the World Cup.
