Interdepartmental commission on extremism prevention and inter-ethnic relations harmonizing chaired by Deputy Head of Krasnodar Sergey Vasin was held in the capital of Kuban.
— Current inter-ethnic environment in Krasnodar is stable. Specialists highlight the reduction of quantity of illegal migrants as well as breaches in the sphere of foreign labour employment. Sociological researches demonstrate that the city residents themselves asserted calm inter-ethnic situation. Inter-ethnic problems are less interesting for local people than current processes in the region and country in whole. Indeed, there is no reason to let our guard down. We ought to analyse, anticipate and head off conflict situations on ethnic and religious grounds in a timely manner. We should consider the situation thoroughly and objectively, — Sergey Vasin said.
The session of interdepartmental commission was participated by chairman of Krasnodar City Duma committee for liaison with non-governmental organizations, mass media, issues of migration, inter-ethnic and religious relations, Cossacks and servicemen coordination Nikolay Khil, chief of the department of public relations Boris Kuzmin, deputy chief of the department for organization of confronting illegal migration of Directorate of the Federal Migration Service in Krasnodar Region Sergey Kapusta, lecturer in Sociology of Kuban State University Vadim Rakachev, deputies of Heads of urban districts administrations.
— Number of foreigners registered with migration authorities in Kuban capital has reduced from 119 to 114 thousand people in comparison with 2013. Along with that there is a marked decrease of wrong-doings made by this population category, — Sergey Kapusta stated.
— Integrated sociological research on “Inter-ethnic relations in Krasnodar” was conducted in Kuban capital. Over one thousand residents and the city guests have participated in testing and questionnaires. According to respondents’ estimate, more than a half of them have never faced hostile attitude related to their ethnic background. Potentiality of inter-ethnic conflicts was estimated by respondents at the level 15% that is lower than in other cities of the country, — Vadim Rakachev said.
At interdepartmental commission participants also talked over organization of the work of Krasnodar administration department of culture in the area of interethnic cooperation deepening and to nurture tolerant attitude among Krasnodar citizens. The capital of Kuban conducts a systematic work in this area for many years — there were 670 events participated by 320 thousand people in this year.
The meeting resulted in adoption of integrated action plan for 2015 intended to prevention of extremist activity and interethnic conflicts.
