The process of preparation for festive events devoted to May 9 and what is still to be done in Krasnodar within the regional plan was talked about in the course of operational meeting chaired by the city Head Vladimir Evlanov.
The main cultural-mass events devoted to remarkable date and which will happen in Krasnodar as well as other municipalities of the Region include festivals, patriotic actions, lessons on courage and film shows.
In accordance with the regional plan a great number of events are scheduled for the 8th and 9th May. Particularly, on May 8 celebratory assemblies with participation of the Great Patriotic War veterans, the single All-Kuban lesson “We remember, inherit and take pride” and annual regional action “The Parade of victors” will take place in all schools of Krasnodar. Along the main street of the city — Krasnaya Street there will be a march of citizens with portraits of their relatives who have not returned from fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
Traditionally, in the morning of May 9 there will be laying of wreaths and flowers to monuments and memorial complexes devoted to the Great Patriotic War. During the day soldier's porridge distribution will be organized in all places of mass events.
Ceremonial parade of Krasnodar garrison troops, weapons and military equipment through Theatre Square of Krasnodar will become the major event of the day. As it was stated, totally 40 parade units numbering over 2000 people will be involved. Attendees will be able to view the marching of soldiers of Krasnodar garrison military units, Cossacks of Kuban Cossack Army, cadets of military schools of Krasnodar Region and Krasnodar President cadet college, veterans of combat operations.
Apart from that, 21 units of military equipment, 6 weapon units and 8 retro-vehicles will be involved. 1328 seats are to be installed all around the square for veterans and invited guests.
Theatre Square as well as central streets will be decorated for the holiday. The first festive banners have already appeared at streets.
Additionally, as in the Region in whole, the tenth anniversary campaign “St.George Ribbon” takes place in Krasnodar from April 23 to May 9. This will provide every citizen and the city guest at no cost with the ribbons of St. George. Totally 800 thousand pieces will be produced for distribution in municipal formations of Krasnodar Region. Additionally a fundraising will be organized within the framework of the campaign. Over 8 million roubles were raised according to the results of the campaign in 2014. The funds were used for procurement of medical equipment for veterans’ region clinical hospital.
All the events should evoke a vivid response and citizens’ support, contribute to the uplifting of patriotic mood, — Vladimir Evlanov underlined.
The operational meeting also resulted in presentation of the emblem of 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War Victory 70th anniversary celebrations. It represents multicolor image of the 1-st degree Medal of the Great Patriotic War framed by golden laurel branches. An inscription “70 years” lays amid branches.
In the closest time the emblem image as well as other symbols of the Great Victory celebrations will be posted at the official web-sites of municipal formations of the Region and used when preparing and holding festive events.
The regional plan for celebration of 70th anniversary of the Great Victory was developed on the instructions of All-Russian organization committee “Victory”. It includes 4 major blocks: cultural-mass events, scientific and publishing activities, actions on rendering all round support to the Great Patriotic War veterans, putting in order war graves and monuments devoted to the great Patriotic War. The activities will be fulfilled in all Krasnodar Region municipal formations during this year.
It is to be recalled that the city organization committee “Victory” works in Krasnodar. The committee reviews the progress made and the organization of scheduled events devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. During the last session it was stated that Kuban capital veterans will receive nearly 10 thousand jubilee medals.
