Municipal executive committee took a decision about creation of a new recreation zone in the southern capital in 1975. Honored builder of the Russian Federation and honorable citizen of Krasnodar Victor Artyushkov took part in creation of the park. Museum of military weapon was founded and stele with graven names of 115Heroes of the Soviet Union was installed at Kuban capital backwater.
Park at the Backwater which was in 1975 named as “Park of Culture and Rest of the 30th Anniversary of Victory” now is the largest park of Kuban region by territory.
Area of the park composed 25,85 hectares in 2001.
In 2002 the park expended its territory more than twofold and now its area comprises 57 hectares. One of the park’s entrances passes through the “Bridge of Kisses” (it was named in such a manner because of citizen’s tradition to visit the bridge in the day of wedding). The park is situated on half-island: there is Backwater (former creekbed of the river) from the one side and Kuban river from the other side.
At the territory of the park you can find the only in the region museum of military machines – “Weapon of the Victory”. Here it is collected genuine military machines: submarine, army radio station, tanks and cannon gunnery, notorious “Katyusha” – 40 exhibit items in total.
There are18 attractions, billiard club and go-cart track in the park.
Cafés and restaurants work here and for everybody who likes shish-kebab and barbecue there is zone fitted with sheds and braziers on the Kuban river shore front.
