The French city of Nancy being a modern city with long-standing traditions is located on the riverbank of Meurthe in the region of Grand-Est. At the time Nancy wasn’t occupied by Prussia (1870-1871), that helped the city to save its original look. The center of Nancy, generally not affected by vague modern architectural trends, remains an example of classicism of XVIII century. This is due to the last from independent dukes of Lorraine, deprived of the throne, the king of Poland and father-in-law of Louis XV, Stanisław I Leszczyński. During over 20 years of his reign, he completed successful renovation of the city in the mid of XVIII century. Place Stanislas built by Stanislas in the period from March 1752 to November 1755 is a site of UNESCO World Heritage now.
