International organizations

The city of Krasnodar is a politically and internationally active city, which collaborates with a number of Russian and international institutions, e.g.:

1. The Council of Municipalities of the Krasnodar Territory (Krasnodar, Russia)
The Council protects the rights and interests of municipalities and provides a basis for the self-governance development.

2. The Union of the Russian Cities (Moscow, Russia)
The organization, aimed to support local self-governance in Russian municipalities, represents their interests in the country and abroad.

3. The International Association «Twinned Cities» (Moscow, Russia)
The body unites dozens of cities and regions across Russia and CIS to promote and support multi- and bilateral relations not only among them, but also with other municipalities around the world.

4. Eurasia Regional Section of the World Organization "United Cities and Local Governments" (Kazan, Russia)
The global network of cities, regions and metropolises, and their associations, which is committed to strengthening role of their governments in global decision-making. The organization works in partnership with the UN regarding interaction with local authorities.

5. The International Smart Sustainable City Club (Hangzhou, China)
The non-profit organization established by cities, researching institutes, enterprises and NGOs interested in developing environmental agenda as well as adoption of common standards on smart sustainable cites.

6. The Mayors for Peace Organization (Hiroshima, Japan)
The international organization aimed to the peace and security promotion. Member cities raise such topical issues as sustainable development and environmental protection; problem of refugees; fight against terrorism, etc.

Besides, the city administration of Krasnodar annually participates in the European Local Democracy Week — the initiative coordinated by the Council of Europe. The project presupposes special public events meant to foster democratic participation at local level.

The Association of European Businesses, with its Southern Regional Committee located in Krasnodar, leads important activities as well. This is the main representative body of foreign investors in the south of Russia. The Association involves Russian, European and other foreign businesses who seek to enhance EU-Russia cooperation as well as contribute to improving the business environment in the country.

What is more, Krasnodar is a part of the Six Partner-Cities Group: Krasnodar — Nottingham — Nancy — Karlsruhe — Timisoara — Halle, and Krasnodar City officials participate regularly in joint seminars focused on inter-municipal development.
